Boy Scouts Earn Badges at GATS 2016

Scouts visit the Great American Trucking Show in 2016

Almost 100 Scouts along with leaders and parents came to the Great American Trucking Show to earn their Truck Transportation and Traffic Safety Merit badges. They also toured the booths to learn more about the trucking industry. Please go to the link below to see the pictures of the event on Saturday August 27, 2016 in Dallas, TX. They received hats from and Freightliner Run Smart along with lunch and other products while visiting exhibitors.

“This is an important event for Trucker Buddy to host because the Scouts learn about the trucking industry and learn about being a safe driver for the future. Matt Slovack a driver for Don Hummer Trucking always does a great job of teaching the merit badge classes while using his experience as a driver to give the Scouts a unique view of presenting the information. I feel these help save lives of Scouts each year, says Randy Schwartzenburg – Executive Director.”   Photo Gallery

“This program reaches way beyond a pen and paper,” said Fred Sweetwood, a long time Trucker Buddy and driver for over 40 years. “It paints the Rockies, the bitter cold of North Dakota and the devastation of Oklahoma City and Katrina. It brings America to the classroom through the eyes of a truck driver.”
