Rusty and Shari Ann Fry

Jeffery Walker, the Faculty Leader/1st Grade Teacher of Verner Elementary School and his class has nominated Rusty and Shari Ann Fry Landstar Owner Operators, to become Outstanding Trucker Buddies. Mr. Walker talks about his Trucker Buddy friends.fry

“We have been buddies for 6 years! Rusty and Shari Ann take us along on many of their travels via pictures. We've been able to see some really cool stuff. My classroom will send emails to them asking questions about their truck, their life on the road, places they've seen , etc. A year ago we discovered Face Time. So, now my kids get to see and talk to our buddies live. Rustyand Shari Ann stay connected with me and what's going on with my students. One of my students was diagnosed with cancer years ago. Rusty and Shari Ann connected with his parents and offered prayers for his healing. They also rallied some of their trucker friends to pray for him as well. Because of the cargo they often transport, they could not visit our school. However, my student who has cancer wanted to see the truck. As they were traveling through our area they called his mom and they were able to meet at a truck stop. This student still talks about that experience today. Thanks for connecting me with this program and this couple.”

“This program reaches way beyond a pen and paper,” said Fred Sweetwood, a long time Trucker Buddy and driver for over 40 years. “It paints the Rockies, the bitter cold of North Dakota and the devastation of Oklahoma City and Katrina. It brings America to the classroom through the eyes of a truck driver.”
