Mission
The mission of Trucking Mentors is to improve the image of the trucking industry and teach highway safety to high school students by giving them practical education from a professional truck driver. We do this by matching a screened driver with a high school located in their home town or along their route and have the driver bring their truck to the school. The truck become an instant and practical safety lesson when the driver shows the students factors such as blind spots, stopping distances, turning radiuses and many more safety lessons.
By doing this we believe that less high school student will be injured or even killed while on our highways. Saving lives becomes the mission of us as well as the high school and the driver. We also believe that when the high school students talk face to face to a professional driver then they develop respect for each other. Understanding the difficulties of properly managing an 80,000 pound vehicle invites courtesy on the road by the students for the rest of their lives.
